Supergirl (2nd Series)

This title is a continuation of the Daring New Adventures of Supergirl. Its title character, Kara Zor-El (Supergirl) first showed up in Action Comics #252, back in 1959. Kara was the cousin of fellow Kryptonian Ka-El, better known as Superman. Their home planet, Krypton, had exploded years before her appearance, and Superman was believed to be the only survivor. As the years went by, however, Kryptonians kept showing up, including the criminals who had been imprisoned in the Phantom Zone and the people of the bottled city of Kandor.

Supergirl herself was born in the domed city of Argo which had been sent flying off into space by the explosion that destroyed Krypton. For a time, the city’s dome protected it, but the dome’s integrity was eventually breached. In desperation, her parents sent the teenaged Kara on a rocket to Earth. There she eventually met up with Kal-El, who taught her how to use her powers.
