What else would you expect from a company called Parody Press? X-Cons vs X-Farce: X-Tinction! is a humorous lampooning of some of the most popular characters in modern mainstream comics. In this satirical crossover “event,” Parody Press spoofs Marvel Comics’ popular titles The X-Men and X-Force. Parodies of popular Marvel mutants such as Cyclops, Wolverine, and Professor Xavier (Dumbkophs, Tangerine, and Professor Baldy respectively) join forces to stop a fiendish plan by Judge Dooom to “take over all of the X-Books.” As in the popular DC super-hero spoof, Ambush Bug, the characters in X-Cons vs X-Farce: X-Tinction! all realize they are comic book characters, leading to humorous and absurd observations about the comic book industry. Often criticized for its convoluted storylines and numerous characters, The X-Men and X-Force both prove to be ample ground for parody in this one and a half issue satire.
