Back in the 1980s, the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe was something no Marvel fan wanted to be without. Organized alphabetically, the limited series featured origins, histories, powers, and more on virtually every major character, heroes and villains, in the Marvel Universe, from A to Z. This title is one of a series of one–shots that covers similar ground, but organizes characters alphabetically within a common theme. Here the spotlight falls on the “Marvel Knights” imprint, and characters such as Black Panther, Daredevil, and Doctor Strange are featured.

The old series generally limited character bios to one or two pages, while this one–shot features far more in–depth coverage. (Of course, there’s an additional 20 years or so of history to cover for most of them.) Multiple sketches and power grids add to the well–written and comprehensive text for each character.
