Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe: Spider-Man 2005

    (Marvel, 2005)
™ and © 2005 Marvel Characters, Inc.

It’s only when you really read a title like this that you realize just how long some of these characters have been around. Take Betty Brant, a member of Spider-Man’s universe since the main title’s inception. She’s been married, widowed, captured by a cult, driven insane, even turned into a martial arts expert… in other words, she’s had a pretty full life. And she’s just one of more than 30 different characters whose life story is presented in this one-shot, including villains (Jackal, Mysterio), friends (Liz Osborn, Flash Thompson), and of course Spider-Man himself. Each character gets a history, which in some cases are extensive, and a variety of background information revealing who they are, where they’ve been, and how their lives have been touched by the Amazing Spider-Man.

This title is one of a series of “Marvel Universe” comics released in 2004-2005 focusing on a different aspect of Marvel’s rich and storied history. Multiple writers and artists contribute.
