Heroes Reborn: Remnants

    (Marvel, 2000)
™ and ©1999 Marvel Characters, Inc.

In the Marvel Comics storyline Heroes Reborn, the Earth’s greatest heroes are shunted into a pocket universe and then, a year later, returned to their true one. Though, that pocket universe, created by Franklin Richards, lives on and into the void of power step numerous beings determined to be heroes—or villains—themselves. One group of heroes are the Remnants, and although their powers, which echo the Silver Surfer, Wolverine, and the Enchantress, among others, are not great, their desire to succeed and perform heroic deeds is. A media blitz gets them their first mission—unfortunately, it’s to tackle their original founder, Deadpool, who has begun a campaign of rather absurd terrorism (mischief?) on the world.

Silly versions of Nick Fury, the Black Panther, and Deadpool mark this humorous one-shot, in keeping with the latter’s own offbeat series. Written by Joe Kelly and drawn by Ethan Van Sciver.
