The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe was such a great comic collector’s resource in the 1980s that it made sense to update and re-work it 20 years later, with a series of theme–driven one–shots. This edition focuses on the women of Marvel Comics, presented alphabetically from Araña through Vindicator, dating as far back as Millie the Model, and including characters as obscure as Thor Girl and even a female Puck. Each gets a page or more chronicling their origin, history, and powers, along with a picture or two proving that the Marvel Universe has a whole lot of attractive females in it.

The other thing the handbook makes clear is that all of these characters have a rich and colorful history. The one–shot features a striking Greg Land cover.
