Animal Mystic is a fantasy-oriented adventure strip which relates how Nikki Ranoakke, a voluptuous young woman from Southern California, is awakened to her role as a goddess on a far-off planet called Praktill. There, after hooking up with an overly cute dragon and a no-nonsense centaur, she assumes the identity of Queen Jatarri and aids the local population against the hordes of Spigmodites.

Someone pretentiously referring to himself as the Dark One is credited as the writer and artist, even though the book is copyrighted by someone named Greg Williams. The lush inkwash artwork, reminiscent of Vaughn Bodé’s underground strip Cheech Wizard, is the real attraction, as the kindling of a young novice’s potential in the heat of battle with the aid of mysterious mentors is standard fantasy fare.
