The Web

Back in the 1950s, a group called the American Crusaders (whose members included the Original Shield) used their superhuman abilities to protect the United States. Then, in 1963, they abruptly disappeared.

To fill the gap, the government created a hero known as the Web. In actuality, the Web was a group of people, using special armor and energy to carry out the role of the super-hero. As the Cold War dragged on, the Web’s mission expanded from fighting crime to carrying out various acts of espionage and political subversion. In time, however, the group lost favor and was eventually disbanded.

Now, they’re back—reactivated by the appearance of super-heroes such as the Fly, the Jaguar, and the Comet. Possessing great powers—both physically and politically—they are indeed a force to be reckoned with.
