Most comics readers would love to be comics artists. And since most comics readers are guys, they’d love to make a living drawing attractive girls. The same is true in Japan, as Izumi tries to make a living with his illustration skills. However, he has a unique problem: A female doll comes to life, stays at his apartment, and throws his love life into chaos.

As his assistant Kinoko deals with her jealousy over the intrusion of the doll named Lunch, here comes a blast from Izumi’s past. Cute Kozue decides to visit her old boyfriend and stoke the dormant embers of love. Now can Kinoko and the mysterious Lunch handle another competitor for Izumi’s attention and affection?

In this shojo story, Haruhiko Mikimoto’s hero manages to get into a romantic triangle and its subsequent headaches without trying hard. However, though the art is easy on the eyes, the story breezes along without an anchor. Lacking a grounding in reality, it needs a counterweight of dramatic or romantic tension. Minus that ballast, the tale flits in unexpected directions, leaving the reader feeling jerked around like a puppet on a string.
