Who’s Who In the DC Universe

In 1990, DC began issuing this updated index of their various characters. The last such effort had been 1985–1987’s Who’s Who: the Definitive Directory of the DC Universe, along with the Who’s Who Updates in 1987 and 1988. While these had been a worthy effort at the time, changes since (especially the Crisis on Infinite Earths) necessitated a major overhaul.

This time out, DC decided to use a looseleaf format, a generally good idea as new pages could conceivably be put in as needed. Unfortunately, the various “issues” of this series didn’t seem to come in any recognizable order. As a result, it was hard to find desired information (unless the pages were pulled apart and reordered in a 3-ring binder). Moreover, readers were forced to buy any number of issues just to find information on, say, Superman and related characters.
