Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

    (Marvel, 1984)
™ and ©1984 Lucasfilm Ltd.

Famed archeologist and infamous adventurer Indiana Jones returned to the theaters in 1984 for a second adventure. In this three-issue adaptation of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indy joins with new partners Short Round, a precocious Chinese orphan, and “Willie” Scott, a beautiful, but somewhat whiny, nightclub singer.

In escaping Shanghai, the three were tricked into hiring passage on an airline owned by the very villain they were fleeing. Just as they were beginning to enjoy the trip, they noticed that the pilots had abandoned the craft in midair. They eventually crashed down in India where a local village took them in and showed them kindness. Indy was then obligated to help recover the town’s sacred relic which had been stolen from them by the Thuggee cultists, who’d also kidnapped all the children in the village. To do so, Indy would have to brave incredible hazards, and venture into the heart of horror in the Temple of Doom.
