Dark Horse—a leading publisher of licensed comics—has been successful with its line of titles featuring Edgar Rice Burroughs’ famous ape man. A Tale of Mugambi is a full color standard sized one-shot that draws more from Tarzan the legend than Tarzan the man.

The lord of the jungle ruled over all and in an attempt to rid his world of injustice Tarzan granted his three closest friends—Sawa the lion, Pust the snake and Ban the ape—human forms so that they may help him to this noble end. But Tarzan’s plan backfired. When the animals gained human form they also gained human vices and so the darkness prevailed. As a result, instead of friendship there was betrayal, and instead of life there was death.
