Charlotte used to work as a detective until the gruesome murder of her partner by the deranged man-killer, Winfield Vickers, put her out of the game. Though she captured Vickers and brought him to justice, Charlotte remains haunted by her failure to save her partner—and the image of his mutilated body. She thought she’d put Vickers away for good. But now, with his release from the insane asylum, it seems that Winfield is eager to play catch-up on his hobby. Winfield’s specialty is in preserving his victims—skinning and stuffing them—and dressing them up as elaborate pieces of his life–sized dioramas. And he’s decided to dedicate all his work to Charlotte, who he lovingly calls his muse. It’s a twisted relationship, but before this story is over, there will be worse revelations.

Dioramas is a disturbing and convoluted, psycho–drama, best suited to those who love stories with more than one twist. Mark Rickett’s unsentimental script is reflected in Dario Brizuela’s minimalist, cartoonish artwork (resembling such cartoons as the Justice League Adventures), and belies its darker nature.
