Text anthology - not comics

Jeff Rice finished his story about a reporter in modern day Las Vegas hunting a vampire back in October of 1970. Richard Matheson adapted it as a television screenplay and on January 11 of 1972, The Night Stalker leaped at audiences from their TV’s and began a short lived video history which included a sequel (The Night Strangler) and a one season classic program for 1974, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, all staring Darren McGavin who brought a distinctive look and feel to reporter Carl Kolchak that has endeared him to viewers over the years. The show lasted only one season.

Yet the twenty first century has seen a resurgence of things Kolchak, including several related comic book titles from Moonstone and a very short lived remake of the series for 2005 television audiences. Never one to pass up a good thing, Moonstone has now published a series of short stories in a trade paperback format dealing with the mystery hunting adventures of our old friend Carl. Various authors take their swing at creating a good Kolchak story, all under the editorship of Joe Gentile, Garrett Anderson, and Lori Gentile. For Night Stalker fans, this is a rare treasury of tales and worth the price of admission.
