The Outsiders (1st Series)

Having co-starred with the Caped Crusader for years in Batman and the Outsiders, the offbeat super-hero team got its own title in late 1985. In contrast to their illustrious comrades in the Justice League, these heroes were more well-meaning than world-saving. (Had the series run today, they might have qualified as members of the Justice League International).

The Outsiders’ roster included Katanna, a swordswoman; Looker, a psychic; Black Lightning an athletic hero; Metamorpho, who can change his body to any element; Halo, who can fly and fire force blasts; and leader Geo-Force, a prince of Markovia who also has the ability to control objects using earth-based powers. This series still finds them in a loose collaboration with Batman, although by now they are operating largely independently.
