Herbie Popnecker first appeared in Forbidden Worlds #73. Although he was a rotund boy with a strange way of speaking which omitted all prepositions, he also possessed incredible powers—some of which even he’s unfamiliar with. Sitting around the house one day, he saw an ad for super-hero school and decided to start his challenging career as a Fully Licensed Super-Hero. Unfortunately, he was never really able to master the trick of swinging the bad guy around in mid-air, so he failed super-hero school.

Undaunted, he decided to become a super-hero anyway. So he modified an oversized pair of pajamas, stuck a plunger on his head, and took on the identity of The Fat Fury. Armed with a collection of lollipops which impart special powers (including the “super bopper” for slugging villains and the “television-pop” for spying on them as if they were on TV), he was ready to take on evildoers.
