Superman Y2K is a deluxe, oversized mini-series designed to set up the new shape of Superman’s home town of Metropolis in the new millenium. Writer Joe Kelly has conjured up an epoch-spanning saga using flashbacks through the entire history of Metropolis from frontier settlement to rust-belt derelict to its recent incarnation as home of post-industrial conglomerate Lexcorp, frequently visited by various DC luminaries. Superman must combat his most ruthless adversary, Braniac, while sorting out the various subplots concerning Lois Lane and Luthor’s newborn daughter. The Neal Adams-inspired art by Butch Guice, Kevin Conrad, Mark Propst and Richard Bonk adds a dynamic luster to the sprawling, energetic tale.
