Wolph
(Blackthorne, 1987)
™ and ©1987 Blackthorne Publishing Inc.
There was a time—a relatively short, yet prolific, time—in comicdom when hamsters were all the rage…
In 1986 there were The Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters which was merely a title riding on the success wave created by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In that same year, another publisher put out a hamster book—Hamster Vice (Blackthorne). One might take note here of the similarities in cover design between these two hamster series…
Well anyway, this Blackthorne title is a short-lived spinoff from its earlier series featuring hamster vice cop Wolph Stormbringer and a big cast of furry man-beasts. While on a space mission in the Hamster Vice series, Wolph found a powerful mystic sword and now, unknown to our cuddly hero, there are evil forces already closing in on him to take possession of it!
