The Banana Splits (Hanna Barbera…)

™ and ©1970 Hanna-Barbera Productions, Inc.

The Banana Splits are a funny animal rock and roll quartet from the late 1960s, when it was still possible to imagine such a concept without contracting a toxic dose of irony poisoning. The Banana Splits consist of a dog, a toothless lion, a gorilla, and an elephant, apparently adapted from a Hanna-Barbera animated series. Gold Key provides the standard kiddie-comics adaptation, with big colorful artwork and fast-moving stories featuring those crazy Splits in the Old West, on a riverboat, and in all manner of wild adventures.
