Mack Bolan: The Executioner (Don Pendleton’s…)

    (Innovation, 1993)
™ and ©1993 Don Pendleton

Before the Punisher and his war journal, there was Mack Bolan: The Executioner. Mack Bolan was created in 1969 by writer Don Pendleton and became the star of a popular series of adventure novels. Many years later, Pendleton himself volunteered to write the script for this comic book series from Innovation.

Mack Bolan’s story begins in Viet Nam where he served as a highly decorated black beret. Famous as a sniper he became known as “the Executioner” with 95 confirmed kills to his name. Then he was called home with tragic news. His father had borrowed money from Mafia loan sharks, and to repay it, Mack’s sister had turned to prostitution. When Mack’s father found out about this, he went crazy, killing his family and himself. The only survivor was Mack’s little brother. Mack swore to avenge them and gunned down the loan sharks’ enforcers—then joined the organization in order to destroy it from within!
