Black Panther

T’Challa is the son of T’Chaka, ruler of the African kingdom of Wakanda. Educated in the U.S., he was forced to return home when his father was killed by perennial Spider-Man villain, Klaw. As the new ruler of Wakanda, T’Challa had to undergo a strange initiation rite which led to his gaining great strength and agility—and taking on the role of Wakanda’s protector, The Black Panther.

Black Panther had long been a member of The Avengers, but only in 1977 did he appear in a series of his own. This title pits the Panther against a variety of foes, both in his native Wakanda and abroad.
