The New Archies

Some of the most popular kids in comics are the redheaded Archie and his pal Jughead, and his two best girls Betty and Veronica. Their adventures at Riverdale High School have been chronicled in numerous comics and television shows, and they even had a pop music group named after them.

While most of the stories present the kids as older teens, there is also a series based on Little Archie and his friends. The New Archies portray the gang as younger teenagers, just coming into their adolescence. Their hairstyles and clothes are more updated for the 1990’s, and their adventures are meant to appeal more to younger readers.

Most of the regular gang is still around, but like the haircuts, there are a few changes. The most notable would be two new black characters, Amani and Eugene. Apparently a replacement for Big Moose’s buddy Dilton, Eugene is a budding genius and brilliant inventor.
