The Pitt

The ghostly figure of the Witness is the only one who saw what truly happened that day. A blonde man (Kenneth Connell—the Star Brand) was seen floating above the skies of Pittsburgh, holding what appeared to be a hand weight. In a scene reminiscent of the “White Event” that spawned Marvel’s New Universe, the man slapped the weight, and the world seemed to explode.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was consumed by an explosion that would form a crater fifty miles wide—later gruesomely described as “the Pitt.” Even to the Witness, its cause was a mystery, but its effect would reshape the lives of the Star Brand, D.P.7, Spitfire and the Troubleshooters, and for that matter, the entire New Universe.

This saga would continue in the graphic novels, The Draft and The War.
