When Kim’s family moves to a new town, she’s grateful for the chance at a new beginning in a new school— away from all the weird supernatural stuff that kept happening to her at her old school. She should have known better, especially since their new home is in Salem, MA.

She quickly learns that at John Hathorne High, the kids not only believe in magic, but the entire student body’s social system is based on it, and everyone only seems to care about one thing: is she a witch or not a witch? Great! As if just being the new kid wasn’t bad enough, Kim also gets to worry about her own unpredictable powers, magical hazing, and random demon attacks. And, of course, there’s the additional little problem that someone (or something) seems determined to kill her before she even figures out where homeroom is!
