The Marvel Family

Begun in 1945, The Marvel Family united Captain Marvel (Shazam), Mary Marvel, and Captain Marvel Junior, giving the key Fawcett super-heroes a chance to interact, and take on bad guys that could not be defeated by the heroes’ working individually. Uncle Marvel and the three Lieutenant Marvels also appeared in this series.

The fun-loving aspect of Fawcett’s super-heroes stands in marked contrast to the angst-ridden antics of contemporary teams such as the X-Men. The characters here treated fighting evil as a great adventure, and often indulged in comic capers as well as super-heroic exploits.
