™ and ©1997 Ariel Schrag

Since the publication of Awkward, which chronicled her freshman year of high school, Ariel Schrag has been looking at herself through a microscope, analyzing and questioning her life as a teenage girl. Definition presents Ariel’s sophomore year and proves that there are more complicated things in life than high school chemistry, although that can be pretty hard too.

Whether she’s turning sixteen or wrestling with her own sexuality. Hanging out with friends, getting crushed against the stage at a No Doubt concert, or ingesting massive amounts of drugs and alcohol, Ariel’s autobiographical tale is a very honest and refreshing look at a wide variety of tumultuous issues facing teens today.

And after making it through the 10th grade fairly unscathed, Ariel’s story continues in Potential, which tackles her junior year.
