Detroit! Murder City Comix

    (Slave Labor, 1993-1995)
™ and ©1994 Kent Myers and Rick Metcalf

Detroit was once a thriving industrial metropolis and home of the American auto industry. It was called “the Motor City” and stood for the strength of America.

Now, however, it’s increasingly thought of in terms of crime, unemployment, and urban decay. It’s that latter picture that is seen in Kent Myers’ and Rick Metcalf’s Detroit! Murder City Comix. This indie title, published by Slave Labor, is a post-apocalyptic paean to rusted cars, demolition derbies, and a city gone to heck in a hand basket. Myers and Metcalf are clearly having fun with the series too, telling their tales using over-the-top sequences from war movies, spoofs of old comic ads, and an attitude that has tongue firmly in cheek.
