Something So Familiar

    (New Radio, 2005)
™ and ©2005 Alex Cahill

Getting back into the swing of things isn’t easy for John after a terrible tragedy takes a massive toll his on family. Hanging from the end of a fraying rope, John decides to take matters into his own hands. But at a critical moment, other hands reach out for John.

A “pantomime” book, Something So Familiar eschews dialog and narration. Relying instead on images and editing to tell the story, Xeric-winner Alex Cahill’s poignant drama about a wrenching loss leaves much to the imagination. The black and white illustration’s heavy ink work mirrors the grim emotional circumstances surrounding the book’s protagonist.
