Star Wars Handbook
(Dark Horse, 1998-1999)
™ and ©1999 Lucasfilm Ltd.
Writer Michael Stackpole had produced a number of Star Wars novels when he was approached about writing a comic series based on the adventures of Wedge Antilles—Luke Skywalker’s friend and comrade. Although he had not worked in comics before, his Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron series became one of the most popular and long-running of the Star Wars comic adaptations.
After the series had run some 30 issues, Dark Horse and Peet Janes produced a comprehensive handbook filling in the background on all the major characters of the series. In addition to helping bring new readers up to speed, it also fills in the backstory on each character, making their motivations clearer and providing interesting new details of their story.
The second issue offers fans detailed entries on the characters and locations from the six-issue limited series Star Wars: Crimson Empire, an engrossing tale of events that occur after those depicted in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Learn the history of the ambitious Carnor Jax, a former member of the fallen Emperor Palpatine’s Imperial Guard who now seeks the throne, and the noble Kir Kanos, something of a knight errant who is Jax’s greatest opposition. And, just to add some spice to the mix, Dave Dorman’s gorgeous painted covers make this series a must-have!
