So, what would happen if a swirling black void called the Sun-Eater swept into our solar system and threatened to snuff out the sun? Every super-hero in the DC universe would swing into action, that’s what! The Final Night finds the Justice League, the New Gods, the Shazam! Family, and several time-lost members of the Legion of Super-Heroes, among others, trying find a way to stop just such a sun-sapping menace in this four-issue mini-series which crossed over into several DC titles. Even villains like Lex Luthor and Doctor Polaris join the fight. Superman’s role in the story is particularly interesting: he continues fighting his never-ending battle even as his solar energy-derived strength and abilities drastically and quickly diminish in the wake of the Sun-Eater’s journey across the sky. The Final Night also features significant developments in the story of Parallax, formerly Silver Age Green Lantern, Hal Jordan.
