Hell House (Richard Matheson’s…)
(IDW, 2004-2005)

Prolific American horror writer Richard Matheson’s classic novel from 1971 about a house haunted by the spirit of its depraved builder gets a faithful and frightful comic book translation with this four volume series adapted by Ian Edgington and illustrated in black and white by Simon Fraser.
Dying media mogul Rolf Rudolf Deutsch assembles a team of paranormal experts to determine once and for all whether there is life after death. The team—scientist Dr. Lionel Barret, actress turned medium Florence Tanner, and medium turned vagrant Benjamin Fischer—will use the notorious Belasco House in backwater Maine as its laboratory.
Built in 1919 by Emeric Belasco, whose spiral into madness led to a depraved killing spree, the estate has been shuttered for decades. Experts agree Belasco House is ground zero for paranormal phenomena and unspeakable terror.
Matheson also wrote I Am Legend, a 1954 novel about a vampire plague that decimates humanity, and television's infamous Trilogy of Terror starring B–movie queen Karen Black in the role of Amelia, a woman fabulously terrorized by a demon–possessed Zuni fetish doll. Edgington has also written some Star Trek and Alien novels, and artist Simon Fraser co–created 2000 A.D.
