Series continued in Young Romance (DC) #125

Young Romance was the first legitimate romance comic in the United States. Both Young Romance and its sister publication, Young Love, were produced by the innovative team of Simon and Kirby.

In its early days, Young Romance featured a hard-edged melodrama and genuine tension and suspense. Its subjects were often couples from the lower classes, not just well-scrubbed suburban kids, and it dealt with issues such as alcoholism, spousal abuse, infidelity, and serious criminal behavior. Gradually, the title morphed into a tame mouthpiece for the conformist “feminine mystique” values of the 1950s, produced by men and aimed squarely at romance-minded adolescent girls. When DC took over the series in the early 1960s, stories became more predictable and the edgy artwork was replaced by the “slick” style that was predominant in love comics through the 1970s.
