Spyke Jones has a reputation for providing some of the best bodyguards and personal defense in the upper Midwest. When the daughter of a wealthy and dying Wisconsin industrialist, Sonia Mowry, comes to enlist Jones’ aid in protecting her father against Brazilian terrorists, it’s not a big surprise. But when Spyke is tricked into killing her father and ends up on another world called, Squall, he finds out there was more to the contract than he had bargained for.

As it turns out, Sonia’s father was a gateway to another world. By murdering him—the only way to open a gate—Spyke enters a nightmarish existence, the denizens of which kill each other indiscriminately in a desperate attempt to leave Squall. And in order to get back to Earth, Spyke has to do the same…
