In post-apocalyptic Japan, seventy-five years from now, feudal warlords, bolstered by mercenaries, have returned to power. It is a bleak barren world, devoid of law. A samurai warrior known as “Ice Eyes” wanders the countryside with Byrd, the last dragon. His name is Temple O’Rourke and his blazing swords make him a formidable opponent, but he is not averse to using something as pedestrian as a gun.

After saving the life of a former lover from mercenaries sent to abduct her, O’Rourke learns that the local warlord has been accumulating missiles and intends to start another nuclear war. This is news that O’Rourke considers irrelevant, since he no longer cares what happens to the world. However, reluctant heroes are often the most effective.
