Scott Baker, the Man of Rust returned in 1997 in this new series by Caliber. Mike Huddleston is handling pencilling duties this time out, but otherwise, things are much the same as before. The chief conflict revolves around Rust’s changing nature: in the first series, he was formed by absorbing liquid rust. He had also taken in other compounds, however, one of which was “smart metal”—metal which “responds to electromagnetic templates” and which is now interacting with Rust’s own electromagnetic body field. It also gives him a certain control over all things metallic. What’s more, it seems that someone has also found a way to duplicate the accident which created Rust, and as a result could make an army of men who could control metal.
