Birds of Prey: Revolution
(DC, 1997)
™ and ©1997 DC Comics, Inc.
Barbara Gordon (Batgirl before her tragic shooting by The Joker in Batman: The Killing Joke left her a paraplegic) is now known as Oracle, and is tapped into vast amounts of information thanks to her consummate skill with computers. Dinah Lance, a.k.a. vigilante crimefighter Black Canary, best known for her fishnets (now sadly missing) and former paramour of Green Arrow, is the “leg man.” Together they are Birds of Prey.
In this mini-series, Black Canary travels to the Caribbean island of Santa Prisca (where Batman-nemesis Bane was spawned) to break up a slavery ring that operates from that corrupt, isolated dictatorship. Along the way Black Canary impetuously involves herself in a number of harrowing situations which serve to reveal some of her best attributes, while Oracle is left to worry and wonder through the communication satellite uplink.
