Super Mario Bros. (1st Series)

    (Valiant, 1990-1991)
™ and ©1990 Voyager Communications, Inc. and Nintendo of America, Inc.

By 1993, Valiant was the darling of the comics industry, having revitalized old properties like Solar, Man of the Atom and Magnus, Robot Fighter, merging them with new heroes into a unique, highly connected super-hero universe. Valiant was hotter than hot…and it all seemed to come out of nowhere.

But while speculators were busy bidding up the price of Harbinger #1, few realized that Valiant had an earlier history publishing kids comics based on video games from Nintendo.

Super Mario Bros. was one of those early comics, serving up harmless, lighthearted adventures based on the star characters of so many Nintendo video games.
