Lust for Life

This coming-of-age tale focuses on the everyday trials and tribulations associated with becoming an adult and leaving home to be on your own. It is told in a first-person narrative, but it is unclear if the story is actually autobiographical. Although there is some background information on the main character’s early childhood and high school years, the core of the story revolves around his “twentysomething” period. Carefree living and all-night parties eventually succumb to full-time jobs and rent checks. It’s the desire for the freedom of youth that fuels this tale, with the character lamenting the loss of life’s passion because of the often-boring daily routine associated with adulthood.

The author, Jeff Levine, is the creator and editor of a controversial magazine ironically called Destroy All Comics.
