Created by Japanese animator Leiji Matsumoto, Space pirate Captain Harlock and the crew of the Arcadia debuted in American comics in 1989, setting sales records at the time for a black-and-white comic. In this final four-issue series, Harlock and his friends are swept up in the rebellion against the Illuminadas and the Machine People, the android aristocracy that now controls Earth. It is a desperate time for Harlock and the others, their battles brutal and deadly, and many do not survive to see the outcome of their struggle. At what point does the price of victory become too high, the cost of freedom too much bear?
