Skizz arrives on Earth when his spaceship crashes 15 miles outside of Birmingham, England. The gentle Tau-Cetian interpreter makes his way into town where he meets a young woman named Roxie O’Rourke who takes him in. Earth’s oxygen–rich atmosphere leaves Skizz intoxicated and the clash of alien cultures generates comic misunderstanding. The real conflict begins when the gruff government alien hunter Van Owen arrives to investigate the wreckage of Skizz’s ship.

This early work by Alan Moore with illustrations by Scott Baikie originally ran in four–page installments over the course of 23 issues in the British weekly 2000 A.D., circa 1983. This volume reprints Skizz’s entire run in black and white along with three pages of editor’s notes written by Moore in 1984 and two pages of Baikie’s cover art.

Clearly influenced by Steven Spielberg’s omnipresent 1982 blockbuster E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Skizz shares that film’s interest in misguided authority figures, governmental intrusion, and innocence lost. Moore’s attention to English youth culture and that era’s social unrest comes through as well.
