Amazon Woman (2nd Series)
(FantaCo, 1996)

Tom Simonton’s Amazon Woman returns in this 1996 mini-series. For those unfamiliar with the first Amazon Woman series, the character is a campy combination of cheap laughs, cheesecake, and self-parodying good humor.
Amazon Woman is really Karol Hammil (a name change from the first series), a dowdy housewife and secret babe queen of the Amazons. In her former role, she’s married to a lout of a husband named Pete, and spends her time shopping, cooking, and all the other little chores that make up being a suburban, stay-at-home mom. In her alter ego, however, she’s a sexy, half-naked heroine who likes nothing better than throwing sorority-style parties with her Amazon sisters. There’s not much plot here (other than a jealous Amazon high priestess named Big Watoosie who wants to take over as tribe leader). Still, Amazon Woman exerts a certain charm, if only because the creator is so obviously having fun with this campy character.
