X-Men Movie Adaptation

™ and ©2000 Marvel Characters, Inc.

Even before 1999’s hottest summer movie debuted, Marvel was in full gear with the comic version of the script that finally introduced Marvel’s merry mutants to the silver screen. In fact, you could get your choice of the regular adaptation as well as several prequel editions starring Magneto, Wolverine and Rogue. All the prequels tied in to this one-shot, the “official” comics version, which is actually based on an early version of the script. As a result, the comic doesn’t quite follow the plot of the film, which means readers will find some unexpected scenes and surprises that ended up on the cutting-room floor. Long-time Marvel editor and writer Ralph Macchio handled the writing, while Anthony Williams took care of the art chores. This one-shot is available in both a photo cover version and a standard comic-art cover edition. It’s certainly no substitute for seeing the movie, but it’s a great companion item to the experience.
