From the offices of Marvel UK come the continuing adventures of England’s own homegrown hero Captain Britain. As the nation’s only active super-hero, Britain has had an on again off again relationship with comics. In 1985, the hero managed to make it back into his own magazine-style title—a title that launched simultaneously in both England and the United States. Presented in a black and white, tabloid-sized format, each monthly installment offered five separate serials focusing not only on the title character, but on other adventurers such as Night Raven, Abslom Daak: Dalek Killer and The Free-Fall Warriors.
Unfortunately, the series only managed to survive on comic book racks for a little over a year, but the Who’s Who of British talent that graced the 14 issues was truly amazing—names like Alan Davis, Steve Dillon and Dave Gibbons to name a few.
