The Martians had once visited our planet seeking peace, but met their deaths. Now they’ve come back to Earth to return the favor.

Back in 1962, the Topps bubblegum card company released an outrageous set of cards entitled “Mars Attacks.” The series depicted an alien invasion of Earth, complete with genetically mutated ants, nuclear explosions, and lots of bug-eyed Martians. The set didn’t sell very well at the time, while drawing lots of scandalizing media attention for Topps. Not surprisingly, Topps cancelled the series, although it has since become something of a cult classic. Over thirty years later, many of the same artists who either worked on or grew up reading the Mars Attacks cards joined forces to bring us this updated comic adaptation of the card series.
