It is 1958 and Hellboy has come to Malaysia to investigate a demon called Pananggalan. A small child fills Hellboy in on the demon’s unconventional history, but her version may not be entirely accurate. A second story in the volume finds the rest of the B.R.P.D., (Bureau for the Paranormal Research and Defense), investigating the apparent haunting of a Chicago suburb by a tyrannosaurus.

This title, published jointly by Dark Horse and Wizard Entertainment, features a variant photo cover of Hellboy as portrayed by actor Ron Perlman in a scene from the Hellboy movie. Included in this one–shot are six pages of pencil sketches that Mike Mignola drew to entertain himself while he was on location in Czechoslovakia for the movie.
