World of Krypton (1st Series)

    (DC, 1979)
™ and ©1979 DC Comics, Inc.

The story should be familiar to comic readers everywhere. With his world about to die, the scientist Jor-El of the planet Krypton put his only son, Kal-El, into a tiny spacecraft and sent it blasting on its way mere moments before Krypton exploded. That boy would eventually arrive on the planet Earth, where our world’s yellow sun would react with his Kryptonian physiology to give him remarkable powers. Kal-El became known to millions as Superman.

All the above was related originally in a page or two in Action Comics #1. In 1979, DC decided it was time to fill in the rest of the story. In what may have been the first mini-series ever, DC launched World of Krypton to give readers the full story of the final days of Krypton.
