CSI Miami—Smoking Gun

From the hit television series to it’s own comic book, CSI: Miami, popular spinoff of CSI, which has it’s own comic series as well, hits the shelves with a story true to it’s roots.

Horatio Caine and his Crime Scene Investigation unit are called to Ocean Drive where quite a few people have been shot or killed in a broad daylight drive-by shooting spree. The team interviews the survivors, looking for evidence to clear up the deadly mystery. From jilted lovers to jealous agents, gang members to super models suddenly all tie in together as the facts become known.

Jeff Mariotte does a decent imitation of a typical CSI: Miami episode. Teamed with the art of Jose Aviles and Ashley Wood, what you end up with is a story that could also pass as a screenplay for the series. While there’s a bit too many smiles in the autopsy rooms to be believable, the usual CSI type detailing of wounds and body examinations is kept to a “G” rated minimum.
