X-Men Rarities

During more than thirty years of publication, the group of mutant super-heroes known as the X-Men has generated two monthly titles, several spinoffs (New Mutants, X-Factor, Cable, X-Force, and many others), numerous limited series and crossovers, and even a popular animated TV show. So, it seems to be something of an oxymoron to call yet another X-book a rarity. Yet in this one-shot, Marvel has managed to collect five stories that are indeed a treat, even for longtime fans. One of the stories was used as a Generation X promotion during the 1994 San Diego Convention. The other stories (all also previously printed) present the first solo adventure of Iceman, printed in color for the first time; a clandestine and fateful meeting between Storm and the deadly Mystique; a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the Uncanny X-Men’s first night together; and Marvel’s first mutant story from 1962, which set the stage but did not involve any characters from X-Men history.
