Darkman (Vol. 2)

™ and ©1993 Universal City Studios

This second volume of Darkman begins a new tale which takes place immediately after the movie adaptation of Darkman (Vol. 1). That series told of how research scientist Peyton Westlake became a hideously deformed freak, thanks to an explosion set off by a mob boss. To keep the sheer pain of his injuries from killing him, his nerves were severed within the spino-thalmic tract. He can no longer feel pain—and an ever-present flood of adrenaline within his body gives him super-human strength. As a side effect of the operation, he is emotionally detached and prone to bouts of alienation and near-madness.

Despite having evened the score with the mobster responsible for his condition, Darkman was unable to accept that that the boss was actually dead. As a result, he continued to tear into the mobster’s organization in an attempt to “smoke him out.” But the dead mobster was hardly in a position to rise to the challenge…or was he?
