Image Comics acquired the G.I. Joe license some years after Dark Horse’s short tenure with the Hasbro property, but picks up and continues the story thread developed in the Marvel edition, an earlier and longer running effort.

In a nutshell: COBRA is back and ready to do some serious damage to the freedom-loving world. Gathering at a hidden stronghold deep in the Florida Everglades are the sinister scallywags all G.I. Joe fans have come to know: Zartan, Destro, the Baroness, Major Bludd, Tomax and Xamot, and the Cobra Commander.

Of course the good guys are alerted to the shenanigans. A new elite military task force is assembled—the best from all branches—and called in from retirement to lead this group are the G.I. Joe commandos: Flint, Scarlett, Roadblock, Shipwreck, Snake-Eyes and Duke Hauser.

Look out COBRA—G.I. Joe is reinstated!
